This event is from 9:00 a.m. to about 2:30 p.m. Students are to bring a lunch. Students will have a 10 – 15-minute break in the morning and afternoon and about a 30-minute break for lunch.
This one-day seminar with a tournament is for beginning chess players in grades 2 – 8.
In the seminar students will learn the basics of chess including beginning strategy, the 6 first mating patterns and other basic rules and practices of chess. The students will also take part in a 4 round G20 Swiss style tournament. All students will receive a medal and the top 3 players will receive trophies. Students will take home information on how to improve in chess and the best websites for students to learn.
Fee for the event is $20. You can register and pay online or print this form to pay in-person Saturday morning. If your coach or chess leader is handling payment, contact them for your group’s discount code.
Parents and coaches can attend and participate for free.
